Hemdat is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Asian Studies, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, working on Sanskrit and Malayalam. She is interested in cultural expressions of devotion (theater and literature), through which she strives to understand the relationship between gods, goddesses, and the human. Hemdat sets the analysis of written and oral texts at the heart of her methodology and especially likes to tell the stories they convey
